The Parents Television Council Seeks New Title For CBS Series

One of the shows in CBS' fall lineup is under fire for its title. The Parents Television Council has issued a warning letter to advertisers of the William Shatner sitcom, "$#*! (Bleep) My Dad Says." Based on a popular Twitter feed by writer Justin Halpern, the series centers on a 72-year-old patriarch who offers unsolicited advice to his two sons. PTC President Tim Winter says that it's not the content of the show that concerns his organization, it's the title, which references a four-letter word for excrement. Winter says the PTC is asking advertisers to avoid sponsoring the series unless its title is modified for audiences of all ages. Winter also points out that "$#*! My Dad Says" is going out on the public airwaves during primetime. He adds its constant promotion will likely reach an impressionable audience.

In the PTC's warning letter, it says to advertisers, quote, "Beyond a port-a-potty, a laxative or a roll of toilet paper, most corporations don't want their customers to associate their products or services with excrement." "$#*! My Dad Says" starring Shatner, Will Sasso, and Nicole Sullivan is part of CBS' fall schedule.
