Member Of The Air Force Pretends To Be CIA Agent
A military man is facing criminal charges after pretending to be an officer with a Central Intelligence Agency antiterrorism unit. The "St. Petersburg Times" is reporting that Derek Martin approached a 55-year-old woman in Clearwater, Florida on Sunday and identified himself as a CIA agent. Martin -- who had a loaded handgun in his holster -- reportedly asked for help in looking for a woman involved in terrorist activities, and then showed the woman a CIA badge. The woman called police after speaking with Martin, and he was eventually apprehended. The 23-year-old proceeded to admit to police that he is a member of the Air Force. His commanding officer, however, told police he had no connection with the CIA or any counter-terrorism units. Martin was charged with impersonating an officer and carrying a firearm in the open.
