Lemonade Stand Turns Profitable After National Attention

(Portland, OR) -- Talk about turning lemons into lemonade. A seven-year-old Oregon girl who garnered national sympathy last week when her lemonade stand was closed temporarily for not securing a health permit is now capitalizing on the notoriety. Thanks to a radio promotion and Les Schwab Tire Center, Julie Murphy raised more than 18-hundred dollars to help pay for a trip to Disneyland later this month with her mother. Multnomah County Chairman Jeff Cogen personally apologized to Murphy and her family for the bad publicity the incident caused.
