Man Sells Marijuana To Pay For Police Academy

A Utah man's dream of becoming a police officer appears to have come to an end. The "Salt Lake Tribune" is reporting that Orem police arrested a 20-year-old over the weekend for allegedly selling marijuana. Authorities were told the man was selling drugs, and made the arrest after conducting a search of his home. Following his arrest, the man reportedly told police he was selling drugs to save money for the police academy. Orem Sergeant Craig Martinez remarks, quote, "It's probably not the first time this has happened, but this is the first time I've heard of someone admitting it." The man is facing several charges including possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of a stolen firearm.
