Brown Trout Is State Record

(Franksville, WI) -- A Wisconsin man has a whopper of a fish story to tell about the one that didn't get away. The 41-and-a-half-pound brown trout caught July 16th by Roger Hellen has been certified as the state record for the species by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The trout was caught in Lake Michigan off Racine. It's already earned Hellen the ten-thousand-dollar grand prize in the Salmon-A-Rama fishing contest. Hellen's record-setting fish surpasses the 36-pound, eight-point-nine-ounce, brown trout caught in Lake Michigan in 2004.
