Reynolds Recuperating From Heart Surgery
Burt Reynolds is recuperating after major heart surgery. "Entertainment Tonight" reports that the 74-year-old actor had a quintuple bypass last week and is now at his home, where he has a 24-hour nursing staff with him. Reynolds' rep Erik Kritzer issued a statement on Wednesday, saying, quote, "Mr. Reynolds has been released from a hospital in Florida in which he had a planned bypass operation. He wants to thank everyone for their good wishes and states that he has a great motor with brand new pipes and he is feeling great. Doctors plan on a speedy recovery. "
In related news, the "Smokey and the Bandit" actor recently wrapped up a month at the Hanley Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. Reynolds was there seeking treatment for a prescription drug addiction. Reynolds said he shared his experience with the public in an effort to inspire others to seek out help for their addictions.
