Man Convicted For Fighting Over McDonald's Parking Space

A dispute over a parking spot at a Loveland, Colorado McDonald's has made one man a convicted felon. TheDenverChannel.com is reporting that Vernon Brandt was convicted of felony third-degree assault on Friday. On July 29, 2008, 85-year-old Richard Albers tapped on Brandt's car to let him know that he was parked in the spot that Albers had been using every day for the past 16 years. Brandt responded by flinging open his car door, knocking Albers to the ground, and then challenging him to a fight. Prosecutors in the case say the two have argued over parking in the past. Brandt received a third-degree assault charge because Albers' age makes him an "at-risk" adult. A sentencing date for the 52-year-old has yet to be set.
