Leno Beats Letterman In Late Night Return
Jay Leno is picking up where he left off in the late night ratings race -- ahead of David Letterman. The funnyman returned to his "Tonight Show" hosting gig Monday night, attracting almost twice the viewers than his longtime CBS rival. Overnight ratings for NBC show five-point-four million people tuned in to watch Leno's return to "The Tonight Show." Just three million tuned in to watch "Late Show With David Letterman," and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" drew almost two-million viewers. Leno left "The Tonight Show" last May after 17 years at the helm. He was replaced by Conan O'Brien and went on to host his primetime show "The Jay Leno Show" which was cancelled last month after a rocky five month run. In a controversial move, NBC executives announced that Leno would resume hosting "The Tonight Show," leaving Conan O'Brien to negotiate his way off of the network.
