Lady A "Overwhelmed," "Blown Away" By Event-Leading Seven ACM Nominations

Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott admits she's "overwhelmed" with the trio's seven Academy of Country Music Award nominations. She notes, quote, "You dream and pray your whole entire childhood to one day do what you enjoy and love doing the most...I feel blessed beyond measure, and am so appreciative of everyone in the country music community for thinking of us." The group's bids include Vocal Group of the Year, and Single Record, Song, and Video of the Year for "Need You Now." Lady A's Dave Haywood says he's amazed at the attention that track has received, explaining, quote, "You always hear about the power of a great song, and there's no doubt that 'Need You Now' has definitely been a career-changer for us...but seven nominations?! We are blown away." The band's Charles Kelley notes that Lady Antebellum's ACM Top New Duo or Group win two years ago is still fresh in his mind as he adds, quote, "I never thought we'd have a bigger night than that...all of this is just unreal!"

Other top nominees include Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, who each have six chances to win, while Taylor Swift is up for five awards. Underwood and Swift are among the Entertainer of the Year contenders, along with four-time nominees Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and The Zac Brown Band. George Strait, Keith Urban, Darius Rucker, Reba McEntire, and Billy Currington are other stars who've been recognized with nominations. The 45th annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be presented in a ceremony in Las Vegas, and air on CBS on April 18th.
