"Shutter Island" was a winner at the North American box office over the weekend. Martin Scorsese's new thriller debuted at number one and exceeded expectations, earning 40-point-two million dollars in its opening weekend. "Shutter Island" had been scheduled for release last October, but money problems for Paramount delayed the Leonardo DiCaprio movie. Garry Marshall's romantic comedy "Valentine's Day" fell to second with 17-point-two-million. "Avatar" was up one spot to third. The all-time box office champion brought in another 16-point-one million dollars over the weekend, bringing its North American total to 687-point-eight-million dollars. In fourth, was "Percy Jackson & The Olympians" with 15-point-three-million dollars followed by "The Wolfman" in fifth with nine-point-eight-million dollars.Here is the list of the top ten draws at the North American box office for the three-day weekend beginning February 19th.
