Rascal Flatts Reflect On Working For Success

The members of Rascal Flatts say they're glad they took a more traditional path to stardom. As the trio celebrates it's 10th anniversary as a recording act, band member Jay DeMarcus recalls their early days performing at Nashville's Fiddle & Steel bar. He tells CountryForever.com the group got a valuable education with that experience which some stars don't get anymore. He explains, quote, "I mean literally, we spent night after night down there learning the art of entertaining a crowd. And I think if there's a criticism I have of this sort of microwave, instant stardom that some of these kids are experiencing nowadays with 'American Idol' and things like that -- it is a great forum to discover new talent that otherwise wouldn't be discovered -- however, you don't get to put the time in learning how to be an entertainer." He also notes he believes working for fame makes it more meaningful, adding, quote, "When you have to starve for your craft, it's more beloved to you when you have success."

Rascal Flatts has been entertaining crowds on their "Unstoppable" tour. Their next show will be in Sioux City, Iowa on Thursday.
