NBC's Olympics Coverage Outperforms Fox Champ "Idol"

The peacock network has reason to be proud this week. Deadline.com reports that on Wednesday night, NBC's coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics beat out FOX's "American Idol" at 9 p.m. Eastern. "Idol," which typically walks away with the timeslot, brought in 18-point-four-million viewers to NBC's 30-point-one-million. Highlights from NBC's mid-week primetime coverage included live and recapped coverage of three gold medals for Team U.S.A. Shani Davis won gold in men's long-track speed skating, Shaun "The Flying Tomato" White won men's snowboarding, and Lindsey Vonn lived up to the hype, taking gold in the women's downhill.
