Maguire's Donned The "Spidey Suit" For The Last Time

It turns out that three is the charm when it comes to the successful "Spider-Man" franchise. E! Online reports that there will be no "Spider-Man 4," as previously planned. The film series' fourth installment was slated for a May 2011 release date. However, following script issues with the project, Columbia Pictures and Marvel Comics announced on Monday that the film will no longer go forward. It's not a farewell to Spidey altogether, however, as Columbia and Marvel plan to pick up with Peter Parker again as a teenager.

The change in direction means that the film's principals -- Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson -- will not return to their "Spider-Man" roles. Also leaving the "Spidey web" is Sam Raimi, who has directed the big budget franchise since its 2002 debut.
