Jimmy Wayne On His Way As He Walks From Nashville To Phoenix

Jimmy Wayne is on his way. The singer began his 14-hundred-mile walk halfway across the U.S. last Friday to kick off his "Meet Me Halfway" campaign to help the homeless. He set out on January 1st from Nashville's Monroe Harding, which serves both children and young adults in need, and is walking westward to Phoenix Arizona. Offering updates via Twitter, Wayne noted Sunday, quote, "Its been the hardest day so far; loneliness has consumed me; its time to set up camp. Keep praying." In other posts he expressed his appreciation to, quote, "Whoever left the Root Beer & apple along side hwy," and added, quote, "1 thing I've learnD so far; people R so nice & they really wanna help; I'm sitN N a van chargN my cell." He ended Sunday noting, quote, "Its so quiet I can hear my heart beat! Read all your tweets! Wow what great stories and words of kindness! Nite nite y'all!"

With his "Meet Me Halfway" campaign Wayne is hoping to bring attention to the issue of homelessness and raise money for organizations that help those who don't have homes. The singer, who as a teenager spent some time living on the streets, notes particularly wants to support groups that reach out to at-risk teens and young adults.
