ESPN Goes 3-D??

The world of sports broadcasting is entering a whole new dimension. On Tuesday, ESPN announced that they will be launching a three-dimensional network. The new venture will show a minimum of 85 live sporting events in its first year. ESPN 3-D will debut on June 11th during the 2010 FIFA World Cup match between South Africa and Mexico. Other events set to be broadcast in 3-D include the 2011 BCS National Championship game, college basketball and football games, up to 25 World Cup matches, and the Summer X Games. Additional events will be announced in the future.

ESPN and ABC Sports president George Bodenheimer discussed the new network saying, quote, "ESPN 3D marries great content with new technology to enhance the fan's viewing experience and puts ESPN at the forefront of the next big advance for TV viewing."
