Library Of Congress Adding Jackson's "Thriller" To National Film Registry

Michael Jackson's iconic "Thriller" video is securing its place in history. According to E! News, the Library of Congress has selected the clip as one the 25 films to be added to the National Film Registry this year. Films chosen for the registry must be at least ten years old and "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Michael Jackson's 14-minute "Thriller" video debuted on TV screens in 1983. The video went on to win Grammy awards in 1984 and 1985, and was named the "Greatest Music Video Ever Made" by MTV in 1999.

Also included in this year's National Film Registry class are films such as "Dog Day Afternoon," "The Mark of Zorro," and "The Muppet Movie." The National Film Registry was created in 1989, and currently houses 500 of the film industry's greatest works.
