The end-of-the-world disaster movie "2012" came out on top of the weekend box office battle. The movie, starring John Cusack, earned 65-million-dollars in the U.S. and Canada, coming in at the high end of projections from the studio. Worldwide, the film earned 225-million-dollars in tickets to make it the best global opening ever for a movie not based on a best-selling novel, brand or an established movie franchise. Coming in second is the Jim Carrey holiday flick "A Christmas Carol" with 22-point-three million, followed in third by "The Men Who Stare At Goats" with six-point-two million.
