Zac Brown Shares His GRAMMY Nomination Celebration

The Zac Brown Band's Zac Brown says his family is "very proud" of his first-ever GRAMMY nominations. The group, which has been around for more than a decade, is in the running for three awards including Best New Artist. Brown tells "People" magazine that he and his family watched the recent TV special during which nominees in several categories were revealed, and notes they all started dancing around the living room when the Zac Brown Band's name was announced. He adds that even his kids -- who range in age from two-months to three-years old -- got in on the celebrating, even though they aren't old enough to understand the significance of the moment. Brown also recalls his eleven siblings were among those who sent him numerous text messages congratulating him on the nominations.

Brown says he generally prefers to give away "awards and stuff" to friends and others who've, quote, "helped me along the way." But he admits a GRAMMY is different and something he, quote, "may have to hang on to." In addition to Best New Artist, the Zac Brown Band is a contender for Best Country Performance By A Duo or Group with Vocals with their breakthrough hit "Chicken Fried," and the CD "The Foundation" is up for Best Country Album. Watch the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards Sunday, January 31st at 8:00 p.m. on CBS TV.
