MOST AMERICANS CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS

Most Americans will be celebrating Christmas this year. A new Rasmussen Reports poll shows that 86-percent will be marking the Christian holiday this month, with four-percent observing Hanukkah, which began last Friday. Three-percent say they're making note of Winter Solstice or Yule, and one-percent will be celebrating another religious event. A majority of Americans also intend to make the season bright, with 65-percent planning to decorate their homes for the holiday. Just over half of those taking part in the poll consider the holiday season to be merry. Fifty-two-percent say they feel this time of year is joyous, compared to 36-percent who find it stressful. More women than men are able to find the joy in the season, and young adults and those over 65 are having a merrier holiday season than adults in other age groups.
