Jo Dee Messina's Christmas Concerts Raise Over 30-Thousand-Dollars

Jo Dee Messina is giving more than 30-thousand-dollars to charity this week. The singer raised the money with two Christmas concerts last Saturday in support of Harvest Hands Community Development Corporation, a Christian-based community outreach organization. The special shows, which took place at Nashville's Brentwood United Methodist Church, featured Messina with the Brentwood United Methodist Church youth choir. Messina says she welcomed the opportunity to support the organization, noting Harvest Hands directors Brian and Courtney Hicks, quote, "are angels walking the face of this earth. What they do with Harvest Hands must make God smile." She adds, quote, "I feel blessed to be able to use my gift of voice so that they can continue, not only to change lives by 'doing,' but by being an example to the rest of us on how to truly make a difference."

Three-thousand fans attended the concerts, which included the holiday classics "Silver Bells," "The Christmas Song," "Let It Snow," and other material from Messina's 2002 holiday CD "A Joyful Noise." In addition, another 12-hundred watched the UStream webcast online, which is still up for viewing at www.JoDeeMessina.com/harvesthands.
