Happy Birthday Dick Clark!!

An icon in broadcasting and music circles is now an octogenarian. Dick Clark turned 80 on Monday. In honor of this milestone, Hollywood feted "America's Oldest Teenager" with a celebration at the location of Clark's star on the Walk of Fame. Clark's wife, Kari, family members, radio personality Rick Dees and the "American Bandstand" dancers were in attendance. As an added honor, OnTheRedCarpet.com reports that the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce proclaimed November 30th as "Dick Clark Day."

Clark's many career highlights include hosting "American Bandstand" for over three decades. The TV show introduced major stars like Madonna to its national audience. Clark's other ventures have included radio programs, restaurant ownership and Dick Clark Productions, producer of specials such as "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve," the American Music Awards and the Golden Globes. The broadcasting star suffered a stroke in 2004, but has made public appearances on "New Year's Rockin Eve" -- now hosted by Ryan Seacrest -- in the years since.
