Boy Scout Returns Purse And Its 19-Hundred Dollars
The Boy Scouts Law reads in part that a Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, and thrifty. Eleven-year-old North Carolina Boy Scout Edward Myers proved he was all of that last Saturday. Myers and his family were helping their Greensboro neighbors plant and water trees. As Myers went to dip more water from a nearby creek he found a waterlogged black purse on a rock. He told the "Greensboro News & Record" that he opened a side zipper and, quote, "that's where I saw all the Benjamins." Police later counted 19 100-dollar bills. The owner of the purse had it stolen from her car on Thanksgiving Day. Police believe the thief stole 30 dollars from the billfold and simply flung the purse in the creek, not aware of the 19-hundred dollars in the side zipper. The woman gave Myers a 100-dollar bill for returning the purse. The youth reportedly spent 60 dollars on a Carolina Panthers jersey and gave the rest to his mother.
