Steelers Denied Seventh Super Bowl Championship
(Arlington, TX) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers found themselves in an unusual position at the end of Super Bowl 45 -- on the losing end. The Steelers fell behind 21-3 in the first half and were never able to catch up, dropping a 31-25 decision to the Green Bay Packers in Sunday's NFL title game at Cowboys Stadium. Pittsburgh was denied its third Super Bowl championship in six years and a record seventh overall. The Steelers still own the most Super Bowl championships in history with six, and are tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the most Super Bowl appearances of all time with eight. After the famed "Steel Curtain" captured four Super Bowl titles in the 1970s, Pittsburgh went on defeat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 40 in 2006 and the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl 43 in 2009.
