Reba Cheers On Son At Grand-Am 200
Reba McEntire is embracing her son's chosen career. Shelby Blackstock is now a racecar driver, and mom Reba was on hand Friday for his first race at the Daytona International Speedway. The country star admits she had expected her son to make his livelihood in the music industry, but tells "The Daytona Beach News-Journal" she's, quote, "very happy that he's racing because that's his passion." She adds that while she knows nothing about car racing, the sport isn't entirely unfamiliar to her. Reba explains, quote, "I can understand the excitement of the race business. I'm from a rodeo family. The scare tactics and everything are very similar in rodeo. The adrenaline does flow very fast, but I'm used to that." Shelby finished 18th the Grand-Am 200 in a field of more than 70 drivers.
