Cat Believed To Have World's Loudest Purr

A British couple believes their pet cat is worthy of the Guinness World Records. According to the U.K.'s "Orange" news, Ruth and Mark Adams say their cat, Smokey, has the world's loudest purr. The 12-year-old feline's purr reportedly averages 80 decibels, but can get as high as 92 decibels when measured up close. Ruth Adams says Smokey purrs all the time, adding that the only time the cat is quiet is when she's asleep. Adams remarks, quote, "When I'm on the phone friends often ask what the loud noise is and they can't believe it is coming from a cat." Ruth and Mark Adams have submitted an application to the Guinness World Records, and are waiting to hear back.
