The marriage between music couple Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz has hit a sour note. The singer and Fall Out Boy bassist are splitting up after almost three years of marriage. The couple issued a statement Wednesday saying, quote, "After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority." Simpson and Wentz also asked that the public respect their privacy. In divorce documents obtained by TMZ.com, Simpson cites "irreconcilable differences" as reason for their split. She also asks for joint legal custody, primary physical custody, spousal and child support for their two-year-old son.
Simpson and Wentz tied the knot in May of 2008. The two were just photographed in West Hollywood a few days ago with Bronx on what appeared to be a family outing. A source tells TMZ that Simpson has wanted out of the marriage for some time, saying, quote, "It's really all about Pete's erratic behavior."
