Oprah's OWN Enjoys Strong Debut

Oprah Winfrey's new cable network enjoyed a strong debut over the weekend. The media mogul's OWN network premiered on New Year's Day, averaging one-million viewers during prime time. OWN was also Saturday's third biggest ad-supported cable network with women between the ages of 25 and 54. OWN kicked off with a behind-the-scenes show revolving around the final season of Winfrey's longrunning daytime talk show, "The Oprah Winfrey Show," an lifestyle advice from Dr. Phil McGraw and Suze Orman. OWN also debuted a series of celebrity interviews with stars like rap icon Jay-Z and famed journalist Diane Sawyer.

Despite the positive start, not everyone is happy with the OWN network. Some of Oprah's devoted followers are upset that they have to upgrade their cable package in order to watch the channel. One disappointed fan in New Orleans wrote on the OWN message board, quote, "Many people in our area will not be able to watch. We love you and will miss you."
