Chuck Berry Back At Home Following Chicago Collapse

Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer Chuck Berry is resting comfortably at his home near St. Louis, Missouri following an onstage collapse over the weekend. According to "The Chicago Tribune," the 84-year-old's rep issued a statement saying Berry was in "good health" following the scare at Chicago's Congress Theater on the evening of Saturday, January 1st. The music legend collapsed on his accompanist's keyboard about one hour into a show that onlookers say wasn't going well. Berry reportedly didn't move for a couple of minutes before being helped off stage. He returned about 15 minutes later and tried to play, but left telling the audience he had no strength. Chicago Fire Department emergency crews gave Berry a check-up at the scene, but he said he "felt better" and signed a refusal for further medical treatment.

Regarding Saturday night's ill-fated show, concert promoter Michael Petryshyn says, quote, "Obviously, something was off. Fifteen minutes into the set it went from fine to something wasn't right. He was starting songs mid-song, playing 15 seconds of a song." The "Johnny B. Goode" musician flew into the Windy City after performing two New Year's Eve shows at B.B. King's Blues Club and Grill in New York City.
