Bar Patrons Stop Mother From Driving Drunk With Child
Patrons at a Louisiana bar helped police keep an intoxicated mother off the road earlier this month. Melissa Ibarra is accused of leaving her 33-month-old child in her car while she went drinking at a bar in Kenner. Witnesses reportedly heard the child screaming inside the vehicle, prompting the bar to approach Ibarra about her baby. WWL.com says the 23-year-old responded by jumping in her car and trying to drive off, at which point bar security and other witnesses boxed her in a few blocks away. Ibarra allegedly failed a field sobriety test, and is now facing numerous charges including child endangerment and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
