Oprah Picks Dickens For Book Club

Oprah Winfrey is poised to turn an old classic into a revived bestseller with her latest book club selection. The media mogul who has helped many an author climb the ranks of bestseller lists through her readers' network, has selected two Charles Dickens novels to mark her 65th Book Club selection. Winfrey announced Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities" and "Great Expectations" as her latest picks on Monday saying, quote, "I'm going old school." Winfrey said she decided to tackle the works of the 19th century British author because she had never before read a Dickens novel. The books will be published in one special deluxe edition. "A Tale Of Two Cities" was first published in 1859 while "Great Expectations" was published in 1861.

Winfrey first launched her book club in 1996 to promote reading. Her last book club selection in September was the bestseller "Freedom" by U.S. author Jonathan Franzen.
