New Carrie Underwood Book Now In Stores

Fans have a new way to discover more about Carrie Underwood. The new book "Carrie Underwood: A Biography" covers the singer's life, from her pre-"American Idol" days through her wedding in July. Nashville-based author Vernell Hackett notes she even learned a thing or two about the country star as she did her research. "Carrie Underwood: A Biography" is part of a series of books for teens and young adults from Greenwood publishing that focuses on celebrity role models. Hackett notes Underwood certainly fits this bill. She says Carrie's strong faith and family ties have helped her stay grounded and remain true to herself since skyrocketing to fame following "American Idol." In the five years since Underwood took the "Idol" crown she has released three albums -- all chart-toppers -- and eleven of her 15 singles have been number one hits. Carrie has earned numerous awards, including five Grammys, five Country Music Association Awards, and ten Academy of Country Music Awards. She's also the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year, a title she's held for the last two consecutive years.

This week, Underwood is turning her attention to the CMA Awards. She's once again co-hosting the event with Brad Paisley, and she's a two-time nominee heading into the event. Underwood is in the running for Female Vocalist of the Year as well as Album of the Year for her CD "Play On." The 44th annual CMA Awards will be presented in a ceremony in Nashville, and air on ABC Wednesday night.
