Mom Allegedly Steals Sedatives From Dying Son
(Pittsburgh, PA) -- A very disturbing case is unfolding in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that includes accusations of a woman stealing intravenous drugs from her terminally ill child. The "Pittsburgh Post-Gazette" reports Karen Remsing of Washington state was visiting her 15-year-old son at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children's Hospital when she allegedly unhooked an I.V. line that was delivering a sedative to the boy. Police say the 42-year-old Vancouver woman injected herself with the sedative using syringes she stole from the hospital. She then allegedly left an air bubble in the tube when she reconnected the I.V., which police say posed an even greater safety risk to her son. Remsing is charged with child endangerment, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, theft and committing prohibitive acts.
