Judge Orders Wesley Snipes To Begin Serving Prison Time
Wesley Snipes' free time is up. A Florida judge has ordered the "Blade" actor to begin serving a three-year prison sentence for his 2008 felony tax conviction. The order follows Snipes' failed bid for a new trial. In announcing his decision Friday, U.S. District Judge Terrell Hodges said Snipes had a fair trial and that the "time has come for the judgment to be enforced." He ordered Snipes to report to prison under the direction of the U.S. Marshal's Service or Bureau of Prisons, but did not say when or where the 48-year-old actor would begin serving out his sentence. Snipes was convicted in an Ocala, Florida court two years ago on three misdemeanor tax charges. Prosecutors said the Orlando-born actor had earned more than 38-million-dollars since 1999, but had failed to pay taxes or file income tax returns for several years.
