Jason Aldean Not Bothered Being Second To Taylor Swift

Jason Aldean says he's not upset that his new album is landing second to Taylor Swift's latest CD on the charts. He jokes with "Country Weekly" magazine, quote, "I don't even count Taylor Swift. She's on a different planet than the rest of us." But retailers have counted a lot of her albums over the past two weeks. This week Aldean's "My Kinda Party" debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with 193-thousand copies sold, which is his best first-week sales figure yet. But 320-thousand copies of Swift's "Speak Now" left stores last week to give her album a second week at number one. Her disc rang up more than one-million sales in the week of its October 25th release.

Aldean notes he's happy for Swift, saying her success is, quote, "good for her and good for the rest of us." He explains, quote, "A lot of people just don't do those numbers anymore. It just goes to show you, people are still into buying full-length albums." Aldean has been focused on selling his entire disc. He's said he included 15 tracks on "My Kinda Party" to create an incentive for fans to purchase the whole album and not just download select tracks.
