When it comes to Thanksgiving dinner, most people aren't willing to risk making a mistake with the turkey. According to the annual Allrecipes Thanksgiving Trends survey, only 15-percent say they'll be experimenting with the way they prepare the main course for their big holiday meal, while 82-percent note they'll be trying out a new side dish. Those who are bypassing the traditional turkey preparations include seven-percent who will be grilling their bird outdoors. The Weber GrillWatch Pulse notes this is nearly double the number of people who grilled their turkeys in 2008. Adults under the age of 35 are more likely to try an alternative to the traditional oven roasting method of cooking their turkey, with 19-percent of those 25 to 34 saying they're preparing the bird in a different manner.
Deep frying is another option. But a Masterbuilt poll shows that 58-percent have safety concerns about cooking their turkey this way. More than 60-percent of those who've had fried turkey say they wish they could eat it more often. However, 39-percent don't know how to fry a turkey, and 46-percent note they don't have the right equipment.
