Chilean Miner To Visit Letterman Thursday

Before lacing up his sneakers for the New York Marathon on Sunday, Chilean miner Edison Peña is making a stop at CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman" on Thursday night. Peña, one of the 33 miners rescued from a collapsed mine in Chile last month, will be the first of the rescued miners to conduct an in-studio interview since they were all brought to the surface safely. He was dubbed "the runner" by his fellow miners because he jogged up to six miles a day in the darkness to keep in shape during the 69-day ordeal. Upon hearing his unique story and watching the rescue operation that was televised around the world, the New York Road Runners organization extended an invitation to Peña to run in the 2010 New York City Marathon. He accepted the offer on Monday.
