WOMEN DRAWN TO A MAN'S AROMA, GEOGRAPHY DETERMINES PREFERRED SCENTS

How a guy smells can make or break that romantic moment for a girl, but where she lives makes a difference in which scents she finds attractive. A new AXE "Scent and the City" study shows that women in New York City are drawn to the aroma of coffee, while single ladies in Los Angeles prefer a lavender-scented man and vanilla tugs at the heartstrings of women in Chicago. Nationally coffee, lavender, and vanilla are also the top three scents preferred overall by women. But it's the smell of a barbeque that gets the girls going in Houston, and Atlanta ladies like a guy carrying a cherry scent. Some cities match regional preferences, while others don't. Women in Dallas like their men to have a smokey smell, and smoke is also the top scent for men across the South. But it's the smell of the ocean and suntan lotion that attracts women in San Diego, while regionally the aroma of baked goods is most popular among women on the West Coast.

Women also like to hang on to their guy's scent. Half of the ladies surveyed admit they've stolen something their man has worn so they can have it around to sniff, and just under 60-percent say they sleep in their guy's clothes because they like being surrounded by his aroma. A quarter of the respondents also note they'll wait two-to-four-weeks to launder their linens because they don't want to wash their man's smell out of the sheets.
