Oprah Donates Six-Million-Dollars To U.S. Schools, Will Guest On "Sesame Street"
Oprah Winfrey is opening up her wallet to support education. The medial mogul has revealed that her Angel Network will be giving six-million-dollars to six educational organizations that assist troubled schools in the U.S.. The announcement was made during Monday's broadcast of "The Oprah Winfrey Show." The donation is the largest given by the Angel Network during one of Winfrey's shows. The six organizations sharing the donation are based in Pennsylvania, California, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana and Texas. Winfrey is dedicating Monday and Tuesday's shows to the issues regarding public education. During Monday's broadcast, Oprah welcomed a panel of education reform advocates that included Microsoft founder Bill Gates and director Davis Guggenheim, who is behind the upcoming documentary "Waiting For Superman." The projects follows five children as they enter a lottery to obtain admission into a high-performing school. In related news, the media mogul will guest star on "Sesame Street" next Monday. Winfrey's appearance on September 27th will help kick off 41st season of the PBS educational series.
