Darryl Worley Sees Big Returns From Tennessee River Run

Darryl Worley's prediction came true -- he did have a great turnout with his Tennessee River Run this year. The 2009 edition of the singer's annual charity event raised 200-thousand-dollars for the Darry Worley Foundation, which supports a variety of local and national organizations and is funding the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center in the country star's hometown of Savannah, Tennessee. Worley notes he's thrilled with the results, saying, quote, "This may have been the best year we've ever had. I thank God for this awesome opportunity to help people who have nowhere else to turn and I'm truly honored and humbled by these responsibilities. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work to make this another amazing event!"

More than ten-thousand people took part in the multi-day event, which included such activities as a Songwriters Round and Fish Fry, a 5K Walk/Run, a Motorcycle Poker Run, a Golf Tournament, a Kid's Fishing Tournament, and concerts featuring Worley, Lee Brice, Joe Diffie, Danny Gokey, and the Marshall Tucker Band. Plans are already under way for next year's 10th annual Tennessee River Run. Worley will host the three-day event in Savannah, Tennessee on September 15th through the 27th, 2011.
