Comic Greg Giraldo Dies Following Overdose

Comedian Greg Giraldo has died. TMZ.com is reporting that the 44-year-old lost his life in a New Jersey hospital on Wednesday. Giraldo's passing comes just five days after he was hospitalized for an accidental overdose on prescription drugs. A source close to the "Last Comic Standing" judge tells TMZ, quote, "Greg passed away today at the hospital in New Brunswick as a result of an accidental overdose. His family was by his side." Plans for a public memorial are reportedly being made.
Greg Giraldo was scheduled to perform at New Jersey's Stress Factory last Saturday night, but was instead found unconscious at a nearby Hyatt Regency hotel. The comedian was resuscitated by rescue workers before he was taken to the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. Along with his role on NBC's "Last Comic Standing," Greg Giraldo is known for his appearances on Comedy Central's celebrity roasts.
