Blake Shelton Invited To Join The Opry At Opry House Reopening
Blake Shelton is on his way to becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry. The singer received the special invitation during Tuesday night's reopening concert for the Grand Ole Opry House. Shelton, who performed "All About Tonight" earlier in the show, returned to the stage to close the event singing "Hillbilly Bone" with Trace Adkins. Once they finished the song, Adkins made the announcement. He noted that in recognition of Shelton's reputation on Twitter, the Grand Ole Opry sent Shelton a tweet with the good news. Blake was visibly moved, and momentarily speechless. When he finally stepped to the mic to accept, he drew laughs as he quipped, quote, "I know a lot of guys that want this as bad as I have wanted this, and, forget them for now!" He added, quote, "I don't know what I ever did in the last year or so to finally turn Nashville's head a little bit, but whatever I did -- I'm loving it. And this moment right here is hand's down the highlight of my career." Shelton will be formally welcomed as a member of the Grand Ole Opry on October 23rd.
