Taylor Swift To Perform Prior To NFL's Season Opener

Pop-country superstar Taylor Swift will be helping football fans kick off the 2010 NFL season. Over the weekend, NBC announced that Swift will be performing prior to the season opener on September 9th. Also slated to perform before the game is the Dave Matthews Band. A third artist who will sing the National Anthem will be announced in the coming weeks. The 2010 season gets underway with a rematch of last season's NFC championship game between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints. The pre-game ceremonies will begin at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, with the game getting underway at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.

Taylor Swift isn't the first country star to help welcome in the start of the NFL season. Last year, Tim McGraw performed prior to the season's first game, while in 2008, Keith Urban took the stage before the New York Giants' first home game.
