Giants Down Jets In Stadium Opener

(East Rutherford, NJ) -- Undrafted rookie Victor Cruz had six catches for 145 yards and three touchdowns as the Giants downed the Jets 31-16 in the preseason opener for both teams in New Jersey. The contest was the first football game played at New Meadowlands Stadium. The one-point-six-billion-dollar facility will be shared by both teams. Eli Manning was 4-of-8 for 77 yards before leaving with a three-inch gash on his forehead in the second quarter. Manning received 12 stitches and did not return. Mark Sanchez was picked off on his first pass, but ended 13-of-17 for 119 yards with a touchdown and the interception. LaDainian Tomlinson carried the ball eight times for 17 yards in his Jets debut.
