TBS Campaigns For A "Tonight Show" Emmy For Conan
TBS is campaigning for their new late-night star, Conan O'Brien, to win an Emmy for work performed for his old employer. Deadline.com reports that the cable network has purchased "For Your Consideration" ads, lobbying Emmy voters to recognize O'Brien for his short stint on NBC's "Tonight Show." The marketing never references the peacock network directly, but that's where O'Brien's work aired during the Emmys' eligibility window. In one ad, a grim-looking O'Brien stands against a blue backdrop. The copy reads, quote, "Give this man one more thing to tweet about." TBS struck a deal with O'Brien in April 2010 that will allow the comedian to host his own show on the network. The late night laugher will air four nights a week at 11 p.m. Eastern beginning November 8th.
