Steel Magnolia Surprised, Thrilled By New ACM Nomination
Steel Magnolia is thrilled to have a second chance at an Academy of Country Music Award. Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones are up for Top Vocal Duo of the Year, along with Brooks & Dunn, Montgomery Gentry, Sugarland, and Joey + Rory. Jones admits that at first they didn't grasp that they were in the running for that award, noting, quote, "We thought our manager meant the Top NEW Vocal Duo Award. Then she started naming off all the superstar nominees like Brooks & Dunn and Sugarland and then we realized we had been nominated for THE Top Vocal Duo Award as well! We couldn't believe it. Then Meghan got another text message and started doing a little dance!"
Steel Magnolia is also a contender for Top New Vocal Duo of the Year, which is currently being decided by the fans. The winner in this category will join the winners in the Top New Solo Vocalist of the Year and Top New Group of the Year to become the nominees for Top New Artist of the Year. Ballots can be cast online at VoteACM.com through March 12th. The winners will be announced later this month, and a new round of voting -- for Top New Artist of the Year -- will begin April 1st. That winner, along with the Top Vocal Duo of the Year and the other ACM Award honorees, will be revealed during the 45th annual ACM Awards, taking place in Las Vegas and airing on CBS on April 18th.
