Some Stars Left Out Of Oscar Memorial Tribute

Some are taking notice of stars who were left out of Sunday night's Oscar memorial tribute. Actors Patrick Swayze, Brittany Murphy, Ed McMahon and pop star Michael Jackson were among the many stars named in a montage of those who passed away in 2009. But actresses Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur were noticeably left out. Fawcett quickly became a trending topic on Twitter at the conclusion of the 82nd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday night. Star Jones was among those who rushed to Fawcett's defense on the social networking site. Jones said, quote, "FYI...Farrah had a diverse career...that included Broadway, TV & Film. She even received a Golden Globe nom." According to IMDB.com, Fawcett was nominated for six Golden Globes, one of which was for her role on TV's "Charlie's Angels." Fawcett passed away on June 25th, 2009 after a long battle with cancer.

Bea Arthur was nominated for nine Golden Globes. She didn't win any of them, but she had better luck with Emmy Awards. Arthur won two of the ten Emmys for which she was nominated. One was for her TV role in "Maude" in 1977 and the other was for her role in "The Golden Girls" in 1988. Arthur passed away on April 25th, 2009 after a fight with lung cancer. Neither Fawcett or Arthur were ever nominated for Oscars in their lifetime.
