Phil Vassar Supports Hometown Charity With Benefit Concert

Phil Vassar continues to support his hometown. The singer-songwriter played a benefit concert last week at the Glass High School Auditorium in Lynchburg, Virginia in support of The Miller Home. Vassar notes he began donating his time to the facility for girls well before he was famous. He tells WSET-TV when he was a kid he belonged to a church group that performed Christmas concerts for Miller Home residents. Vassar adds that helping an organization that assists girls in need is, quote "a natural fit" for him given his family background, which the father of two daughters describes as "all women, all girls." Last Thursday's event, which also featured Rodney Atkins, was Vassar's second annual Miller Home benefit concert. Lynchburg's "The News & Advance" says Vassar's 2009 show brought in nearly 30-thousand-dollars for the facility.
