Long-Separated High School Sweethearts Marry At Hospital

High school sweethearts separated for more than 30 years pledged their devotion to each other during a special ceremony at Des Peres hospital in St. Louis over the weekend. KSDK-TV reports that Susan McGuire, who works at the hospital as the employee health nurse, married Bob Stevens in the hospital's cafeteria-turned-wedding chapel. McGuire told her boss she was going to marry Stevens at a courthouse, but that didn't seem right to him, so he organized the hospital wedding, to which friends, family and the whole hospital staff were invited. McGuire and Stevens met in high school in Morton, Illinois, and planned to marry but when Stevens joined the military and was sent to Japan, McGuire's parents told her she had to end the engagement. Last December, the two, who had both divorced other spouses, met again after Stevens found McGuire on Facebook.
