Woman Scams Girl Scouts With Counterfeit $100
A California Girl Scout Troop learned a hard lesson after selling four boxes of cookies to a woman who paid for them with a counterfeit 100-dollar bill. Denielle Knight, leader of Girl Scout Troop 1204 in Victorville, California said it was a crushing loss for the troop and in particular for the three girls working the table last weekend in front of a grocery store. Knight says to compensate for the loss of the 80-dollars change the girls gave the woman, her troop will have to sell 400 boxes of cookies just to break even. Knight says one of the girls thought the hundred-dollar bill looked and felt funny but accepted it anyway. After the customer took her cookies, 80-dollars change and left, they took the bill into the store where employees confirmed it was a phony. San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies were called and began an investigation.
