CMA Announces Hall Of Fame Inductees
Ferlin Husky, Jimmy Dean, Don Williams, and producer Billy Sherrill are headed to the Country Music Hall of Fame. There are four inductees this year, because Husky and Dean were tied in the vote. They'll both enter the Country Music Hall in the "Veterans Era Artist" category, while Williams is being added to the "Modern Era Artist" category and Sherrill is joining the ranks of the "Non-Performer" category. In announcing the new inductees, CMA Board of Directors Chairman Steve Moore said, quote, "These four gentlemen broadened country music immensely with their talents, exposing millions of fans around the world to our format. Their contributions to the genre and to popular culture are immeasurable, and we are proud to award them the highest honor in country music." Husky, Dean, Williams, and Sherrill will formally be recognized as Country Music Hall of Famers with the annual Medallion Ceremony later this year.
